The programme features four productions, each presented twice. Selected performances will be followed by thematic discussions with the artists and invited guests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The project aims to broaden and diversify Wroc\u0142aw\u2019s cultural programme, make culture more accessible and support independent theatre. It also creates a space where people with different experiences, languages and perspectives can meet and engage in conversations about issues that matter to contemporary society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The entrance to each performance is free of charge.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"#harmonogram\">Here you can find the schedule of each performance<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The Goal of the Project<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The project seeks to <strong>strengthen the diversity of Wroc\u0142aw\u2019s cultural life and broaden the city\u2019s cultural programme<\/strong>, while supporting the artistic work of independent GAS Theatre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Through eight free performances, we want to make contemporary independent theatre more accessible to Wroc\u0142aw residents and create a space for dialogue around issues that shape both individual lives and entire communities \u2013 including migration, war, memory, identity, culture and the future of Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Theatre can bring different perspectives and experiences together. This project builds on that potential by combining artistic work with conversation and exchange between audiences, theatre-makers and invited experts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Who is it for?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The project is open to <strong>Wroc\u0142aw residents<\/strong> \u2013 both regular culture-goers and those who take part in the city\u2019s cultural life only occasionally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We welcome people born in Poland as well as those with migrant or refugee backgrounds for whom Wroc\u0142aw has become a second or temporary home. As the city becomes increasingly multicultural and multilingual, an important part of the project is creating opportunities to meet, get to know one another and engage in dialogue across differences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ukrainian Stage is also for anyone looking for <strong>independent, contemporary and experimental theatre<\/strong> that engages with current social issues and explores forms beyond the mainstream repertoire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Meet GAS Theatre \u2013 an independent Ukrainian theatre company in Wroc\u0142aw<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Independent <strong>GAS Theatre<\/strong> was founded in Wroc\u0142aw in 2022 by Sofiia Onishchenko, Vasylyna Martseniuk and Daria Bohdan, graduates of the Wroc\u0142aw Branch of the AST National Academy of Theatre Arts in Krak\u00f3w. The company was formed after they were forced to leave Ukraine following Russia\u2019s full-scale invasion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In their productions, the artists of GAS Theatre combine <strong>physical theatre, poetry, live music and documentary elements<\/strong>. Their work draws on experiences of war, migration and cultural memory while searching for new forms of expression and a contemporary theatrical language.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">GAS Theatre creates a space for intercultural dialogue in Wroc\u0142aw, where socially important issues can be explored and discussed from different perspectives. The company\u2019s distinctive artistic language draws on both Ukrainian experimental theatre and the Polish theatrical tradition its founders encountered during their studies in Wroc\u0142aw.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"harmonogram\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Performance schedule<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The project features <strong>four GAS Theatre productions: \u201cAnthology\u201d, \u201cSweet and Sour\u201d, \u201cTomorrow, Ten Years Ago\u201d and \u201cStarting Point\u201d<\/strong>. If the trees lining them could speak, they would tell more than three hundred years of stories: of the everyday rhythm of mornings and evenings, of the Russian offensive and occupation, and ultimately of almost total destruction. But since the trees cannot tell those stories, people must.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cSweet and Sour\u201d is a <strong>documentary performance for one actor<\/strong>, based on interviews with people from Kyslivka. Following Russia\u2019s full-scale invasion, they were forced to seek safety elsewhere in Ukraine and beyond its borders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Combining devised theatre with physical theatre, the production is an attempt to preserve the memory of a place that the Russian army has almost erased from the map. How do you imagine your future while staying connected to home and finding your place in a new society?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cTomorrow, Ten Years Ago\u201d is a <strong>documentary theatre production co-created with young people from Ukraine aged 12 to 19<\/strong>, who come from different parts of the country. Most have spent the majority of their lives in a reality shaped by war and moved to Poland after Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The production gives a voice to a younger generation \u2013 to their personal stories, experiences of growing up, reflections on the world around them, dreams and visions of the future. Its textual foundation includes contemporary Ukrainian drama \u2013 including excerpts from Tetiana Shelepko\u2019s play \u201cPoint of Alienation\u201d \u2013 documentary interviews with people who have experienced internal or cross-border displacement, as well as the performers\u2019 own reflections and personal accounts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The production looks at migration through several historical lenses: Polish emigration abroad, waves of Ukrainian labour migration in the twentieth century, and the emergence of today\u2019s Ukrainian diaspora following 2014 and 2022.
