ANNUAL REPORT OF FOUNDATION UKRAINE FOR 2024
Last year was a time of dynamic actions, new challenges, and active support for people in crisis in Lower Silesia for the Foundation Ukraine.
In 2024, we carried out 21 projects, 5 of which we are continuing in 2025. With the help of our partners and donors, we were able to implement a number of initiatives supporting integration, adaptation, education, and humanitarian aid. We are proud to share these successes with you, which stand as proof of the strength of cooperation and our shared mission!
Information support for migrants: activities of the Institute of Migrant Rights coordinated by Foundation Ukraine
Our specialists at the Institute of Migrant Rights conducted 21,112 consultations, including:
- 7,389 in-person general informational consultations,
- 11,620 remote consultations,
- 1,260 in-person specialist consultations,
- and 843 individual consultations in temporary accommodation centers.
In terms of training sessions and informational meetings, the Institute of Migrant Rights organized:
- 2 online courses “Foreigners in Poland”, with 85 participants,
- 6 online courses “The education system in Poland” for 98 parents with migration and refugee experience,
- An in-person legalization course, consisting of 4 meetings with 57 participants,
- 11 informational training sessions, attended by 243 people.
Support for residents of temporary accommodation centers in Lower Silesia
In 2024, we provided temporary accommodation for 245 refugees in Wrocław, Lądek-Zdrój, Kudowa-Zdrój, and Karpacz.
At the temporary accommodation centers in Wałbrzych, Jelenia Góra, and Legnica, we organized:
- 32 informational group meetings about the support available through Foundation Ukraine’s activities, with 380 participants.
- 60 individual consultations, during which support plans were developed. During these consultations, refugees received information about how to access individual assistance tailored to their needs and had the opportunity to sign up for counseling.
- 34 outreach visits by specialists in administrative law, residence legalization, and social benefits, based on the identified needs of the center residents.
As part of the “Summer of Equal Opportunities” project, funded by the POP Fund, we also focused on supporting the education of children living in the centers, including:
- Distributing educational vouchers worth 45,000 PLN for 75 children from 60 families.
- Providing 21 laptops for refugee children, valued at 19,715.85 PLN.
- Allocating 15,968.01 PLN to improve the educational infrastructure in the temporary accommodation centers.
- Organizing 8 workshops for 110 children living in the temporary accommodation centers in Wałbrzych and Jelenia Góra.
Our activities aimed not only to provide material aid but also emotional and advisory support for those affected by the crisis.
Flood сrisis response
In response to the flooding crisis in Lower Silesia, in September 2024, we provided medicines, cleaning products, blankets, and food worth 18,119.39 PLN. We also organized two volunteer trips to Kłodzko and Głuchołazy, where volunteers supported local communities in rescue and cleanup efforts.
Humanitarian support
In 2024, we collected and sent over 1,500 food packages to areas most affected by Russia’s aggression in Ukraine. Through the HELP UA PACKAGE project, we successfully gathered and sent 704 packages to the Donetsk and Dnipropetrovsk regions, Izium, Antonivka, and Kherson. During the “SkovorodaFest 2024” festival, we collected an additional 800 packages for Izium, Lyman, Kherson, and the Chernihiv region.
Additionally, we purchased a Volkswagen Transporter van, which was donated for charitable purposes.
All of this was possible thanks to our donors, particularly the financial support from Deviniti Sp. z o.o. and donations for the SAVE UKRAINE charity campaign, which raised 207,746.98 PLN in 2024.
Social integration support – integration and adaptation events for children and adults
In 2024, Foundation Ukraine continued its work on social integration, implementing a series of educational, adaptive, and cultural initiatives as part of the Foundation’s projects and in cooperation with partners.
We organized 432 events for over 10,000 participants, including:
SKOVORODA FEST 2024 – our annual integration festival for Ukraine’s Independence Day, which brought together over 2,000 participants, becoming our largest event of the year!
- 44 integration and adaptation workshops for 515 children and adults as part of the Wrocław Integration Center project and the “Together in Wrocław 2024” integration program.
- 32 expert and hobby workshops for 145 participants, made possible through the support of BNY Mellon and its employees, who shared their expertise with refugees to support their integration and personal development.
- 95 cultural meetings at the Ukrainian Cultural and Development Center, attended by 1,470 people.
- 88 meetings of the Polish Speaking Club with 2,445 participants.
- 66 meetings of the English Speaking Club with 1,800 participants.
- 10 Spanish Speaking Club meetings with 80 participants.
- 30 Cashflow game meetings with 150 participants.
- 26 Promowa Club meetings with 520 participants.
- 40 board game meetings with 800 participants.
Free of charge polish language courses for children and adults
We organized 3,092 hours of language courses, attended by over 540 people, including:
- 313 children from Wrocław in summer language courses, totaling 1,920 hours of learning.
- 30 children from temporary accommodation centers in Wałbrzych and Jelenia Góra, participating in 80-hour Polish language courses.
- 198 adults who attended Polish language courses, totaling 1,092 hours of learning.
Thanks to these initiatives, we not only developed participants’ language skills but also created a space for integration, community building, and mutual support among migrants and refugees.
Youth and education support in Poland
Foundation Ukraine continued its efforts to support migrant children and the Polish education system. In 2024, we implemented a number of initiatives aimed at easing the adaptation of refugee children within the Polish education system and supporting the work of intercultural assistants:
- 30 intercultural assistants supported 1,954 children in 30 schools across Lower Silesia.
- We created a video showcasing the work of intercultural assistants, highlighting their daily challenges and successes.
- We organized the first Wrocław Forum for Intercultural Assistants, which gathered over 130 people interested in the topic.
- We initiated the creation of Wrocław Standards for Intercultural Assistants, which were presented during the first Forum.
- We conducted research on the employment model of intercultural assistants, leading to the development of a more effective support model.
- As part of the “Ukraine/Boys Serious Play – Building the Mental Well-being of Ukrainian Boys” project, we held 29 meetings for 53 boys with migration experience.
- We also conducted 88 LEGOⓇ SERIOUS PLAYⓇ workshops for a total of 761 schoolchildren and 29 sports events. These activities aimed to support the integration of refugee children, reduce cultural barriers, and build a more diverse and integrated society.
- We carried out 238 adaptive sessions for over 2,500 children from Wrocław and Świdnica using the TeamUp and HEART methods. These sessions helped participants express their emotions, build relationships with peers, and develop social skills.
