Once again, Wrocław has proven itself to be a city open to diversity and dialogue. On August 24, 2024, the Foundation Ukraine organized SKOVORODA FEST 2024 – a multicultural festival celebrating the 33rd anniversary of Ukraine’s Independence Day. The walls of the Dąbie Depot were transformed into a lively hub of cultural dialogue, where locals and migrants from around the world gathered to celebrate diversity, integration and share experiences. The event not only united people but also demonstrated how enriching and inspiring intercultural cooperation can be. The festival was proof that differences don’t have to divide us – they can inspire and help build lasting relationships.
Plenty of attractions and inspiration
This year’s edition of Skovoroda Fest attracted over 2,000 participants, offering a rich program of events filled with traditions and flavors from different cultures. It was not just a space for fun but also a place for creative engagement.
Creative art workshops attracted both children and adults, allowing them to express themselves through art and crafts. The craft fair provided an opportunity to meet local artisans who showcased their unique, passion-driven products. Visitors could not only buy authentic handmade items but also hear the inspiring stories behind them.
The multicultural food market was a true culinary journey around the world, all without leaving Wrocław. Participants enjoyed dishes from Ukraine, Poland, Belarus, Turkey, Georgia, Syria, India, and Colombia. Each stand offered traditional regional specialties, inviting visitors to explore new flavors and aromas.
Another highlight of the festival was the NGO Village, which gathered numerous non-governmental organizations promoting integration and multiculturalism. Attendees had the chance to learn about these initiatives and establish valuable connections. It was a meeting place for inspiring individuals, where visitors discovered ways to engage in meaningful social projects and actively contribute to the local community.
The festival concluded with an evening concert at Klub Łącznik, filling the space with energy and positive vibes. Bands IЗ DNIPRA, VMVD Wymyrajuci Wydy, and Kwit delighted the audience with dynamic performances, drawing everyone into a joyous celebration.
Stand with Ukraine: Unity in action
SKOVORODA FEST 2024 was not only an artistic event but also a platform for building relationships and supporting local communities. As part of the Help UA Package initiative, led by Foundation Ukraine with financial support from Deviniti, festival volunteers collected over 800 food packages, which were sent to Izium, Lyman, Kherson, and the Chernihiv Oblast.
– “Many new volunteers joined the food-packing initiative today, including students who just arrived in Poland. We collected a total of 817 packages, which will be sent to Ukraine,” reported Iryna Zhabynska, a volunteer from the Foundation Ukraine.
Throughout the festival, participants learned about various volunteer initiatives and actively got involved. The event was a perfect opportunity to discover ways to support Ukraine by helping weave camouflage nets or assisting in building drones. It was not only great fun but also a chance to make a tangible impact and actively engage in aiding those in need.
Thank You for being with us!
Organizing such a large-scale event would not have been possible without the support of partners and sponsors. We also express our gratitude to the Spivanochki choir and the children’s ensemble from the Ukrainian Saturday School CUKRuska, whose performances added touching and beautiful moments to the event.
Special thanks go to all the guests who actively participated in the attractions and workshops. Your enthusiasm made this day truly unforgettable! We hope to see you again next year, with even more participants, to create more memorable moments together.
