Summarizing the past activites within the FAMI project__

The end of the year is coming, so it’s time for sharing with you the results of the biggest project “Integration, adaptation, acceptation. Support of third-country citizens nationals in Lower Silesia”, which involve the majority of current events in Foundation Ukraine.

The project FAMI – Fond Azylu, Migracji i Integracji (eng. the Fond of Asylum, Migration, and Integration) is planned for 36 months, from May 1, 2018, till April 30, 2021.

The project is aimed to:

  • give migrants education and increase their language, cultural, professional and social competencies;
  • help migrants with adaptation in the new Polish environment, including understanding legal regulations, administrative procedures, social and cultural norms and differences;
  • improve integration with the people in the host country;
  • increase society’s awareness about the migration and its advantages.

The target audience of the project is also citizens of the host country, in particular, local employers, teachers, pupils and their parents, workers in governmental institutions, and also the local community.

And now we present the results of the project for the period from April 2018 till November 2019:

Cyclical courses of the Polish language

One of the key directions of the project is the course of the Polish language “Let’s mów”.

There have been already conducted 5 cycles of the courses within the framework of the project. More than 155 third-country citizens improved their knowledge of Polish.

InfoPoint and thematic consultations

The other thing we can be proud of is our informational point for foreigners which is located in the main building of Foundation Ukraine. It is open on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 2 pm till 8 pm, and Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 am till 2 pm.

At the moment, 620 people took advantage of the consultations: 592 of them consulted with the lawyer and the other 73 took the advice from the career counselor.

Integrational adaptational courses “Poland is my place”

Within the framework of the courses, there are conducted thematic seminars for foreigners connected to the values and rights in Poland:

  1. Legalization of stay.
  2. Employment.
  3. Everyday life in Poland.
  4. Cultural differences and norms of society.

Our cyclical seminars in the course “Poland is my place” have been visited by more than half a thousand people!

Seminars for particular professional groups and teachers

For the last year, we have conducted 6 workshops for representatives of different professional groups, workers of governmental institutions who work with migrants among them.

Moreover, there were conducted 12 seminars for teachers and other workers of educational institutions. Seminars were devoted to such questions as:

  • integration of the foreign pupil in the multicultural class,
  • support of the foreign student,
  • resolving cultural conflicts,
  • preventing discrimination.

ForUM For Unity of Migrants 2019

This year we have organized two ForUM conferences!

This conference is a platform for intercultural cooperation and the meeting place for representatives of municipality, institutions, business, and society from different cities and regions of Lower Silesia.

The first ForUM took place on June 7, 2017. Its main topic was Ukrainian migration in Wroclaw.

The aim of the second ForUM, held in March 2019, was sharing activities connected to migration and development of multicultural society, and also exchanging professional experience. Despite this, the third conference called EduForUM has been focused on the topic of education of migrants on different levels of Polish education.

Every conference gathered more than 100 participants. Discussions throughout the conferences were very effective. Thanks to its results, a number of problems connected to the integration and adaptation of migrants in Polish society were identified. Moreover, there have been planned further actions for their solving.

The job fair for migrants

The main goal of the job fair is helping migrants in searching for the job and supporting local companies with the selection of foreign employees with different professional and language competencies. It is not only the presentation of companies’ job positions but also a great possibility to improve some competencies and get several consultations.

The number of visitors exceeded 600 people! More 900 vacancies were presented by 16 employers!
