ReStart__

Implementation period: 01.01.2022 - 30.06.2023

Key Project Activities:

The reSTART project is the result of cross-sectoral cooperation between non-governmental organizations, local authorities, and businesses aimed at the intercultural integration of migrants from third countries into the host society.

The project’s objective is to create a more friendly and integrated environment for third-country migrants in Lower Silesia and promote intercultural integration.

The project is directed towards:

  • Third-country nationals legally residing in Lower Silesia;
  • The host society, especially local employers, teachers, students, and their parents to engage them in the migrant integration process, creating space for cooperation and intercultural understanding;
  • Specialists working daily with migrants, as their skills are crucial for the successful integration of foreign children into the school system.

Project Offer:

Information Point for Foreigners

The activity of the Information Point involves providing informational support for migrants in Lower Silesia. Information Point consultants give free consulting advice on residence and work legalization, job and housing search methods, healthcare, insurance, integration with the local community, daily life in Poland, and adaptation in a new place. Our free consultations are available in four languages: Ukrainian, Polish, Russian, and English. In the case of issues requiring specialized knowledge, thematic consultations were offered.

Polish Language Courses “Let’s Mów”

As part of the project, cycles of Polish language courses were organized for citizens from non-EU countries. The courses lasted an average of 3-4 months and took place in small groups. Thanks to funding, the cost of classes was very affordable, enabling migrants to participate in the courses.

Job Fairs for Migrants

Job Fairs for Migrants are a unique opportunity to create a common space for employers and future employees! This event connects employers with future migrant employees, supporting their employment and integration into the local job market.

Our Job Fairs allow migrants to better understand the local job market, employer requirements, and available employment opportunities. This benefits local employers who can find potential employees with diverse skills and experience, contributing to the competitiveness of their companies. Job Fairs also contribute to increased economic activity, which has a positive impact on regional development.

Integrative Meetings

Various meetings were organized as part of the project, such as the English Speaking Club, online French language learning, or Ashtanga yoga classes, which promote social and cultural integration. These meetings helped migrants improve their language skills, which is crucial for communication and better integration into the host society. Language is a tool for understanding and communicating with local residents, which increases the sense of belonging.

Activities such as Ashtanga yoga contribute to improving the mental and physical health of migrants. They help cope with stress and tension, which is important during the adaptation process in a new environment.

Social Campaign “I Am Citizen of Wrocław Like You”

The project includes the implementation of a social campaign aimed at increasing intercultural understanding and acceptance in the Lower Silesia community. As part of the campaign, a film titled “I Am Citizen of Wrocław Like You”  was created by Olena Astakhova and Aleksandra Dziula.

Thanks to the implementation of the reSTART project, a more friendly and integrative environment has been created for migrants and foreign children in Lower Silesia. This is a significant step towards building a society based on understanding, acceptance of cultural diversity, and cooperation between different social groups. This project has lasting social significance as it contributes to creating a more open and integrated society.

The reSTART project is co-financed by the National Program of the Asylum, Migration, and Integration Fund, as well as the state budget.
