Ukrainian Refugee Economic Empowerment Programme in Lower Silesia__

Implementation period: 11.11.2024 - 30.04.2025

The Ukrainian Refugee Economic Empowerment Programme is carried out with the support of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). Together, we aim to improve refugee integration into the Polish job market by providing tailored support that aligns with their experience and aspirations. The programme empowers refugees to find fulfilling employment or develop business initiatives, fostering their self-sufficiency and professional growth.

Project objective:

Through this programme, we aim to support two main groups of Ukrainian refugees residing in the Lower Silesia region in Poland:  those who are unemployed or seeking better job opportunities, and those planning to start their own businesses. The project is intended for at least 150 refugees aged 18 to 60 living in Lower Silesia, especially in Wrocław.

Key project activities:

Career development programme

  • We will offer personalized career counseling sessions and job market profiling, led by experts from the Institute of Migrant Rights, to help create individualized career profiles.
  • We will provide funding for training services of up to 1,700 PLN gross for a selected group of participants who undergo career profiling. At least 20 people will have the opportunity to receive support that will enable them to enhance their professional skills and better align with the Polish job market.

Business mentoring

  • We will offer one-on-one mentoring sessions for those aspiring to start their own businesses, guiding them through each stage of their entrepreneurial journey.

Business training

  • We will organize nine inspiring training sessions on entrepreneurship, covering essentials like finance basics, accounting, and taxation, equipping participants with the skills needed to run their own businesses.

Collaboration with local employers and institutions

  • We will actively build partnerships with regional employers and institutions to create the best possible conditions for participants, enhancing their chances of employment and career advancement.

Expected project outcomes:

  • For job-seekers: enhanced job readiness and skill alignment with the Polish labor market, fostering better job prospects and career growth.
  • For aspiring entrepreneurs: empowered with the knowledge and guidance needed to successfully start and run businesses in Poland, fostering economic independence.
  • For the community: improved social cohesion and economic integration of refugees in Lower Silesia, contributing to the local workforce and economy.

The comprehensive support provided by the programme addresses multiple barriers to employment and economic independence, helping refugees build sustainable careers and achieve personal fulfillment while positively impacting the Polish labor market.
